Jimmy Barnes As the elder statesman of Oz Rock, Jimmy Barnes has carved out the most successful solo career of any performer in Australian rock history. After Cold Chisel disintegrated, Jimmy launched an incredibly successful solo career. His first album 'Bodyswerve' peaked at #1 and went double platinum but it was the follow-up, 'The Working Class Man' that really established him as a solo star and Australian music icon, selling over 400,000 copies, surpassing even Cold Chisel's achievements. This was followed by 'Freight Train Heat', 'Barnstorming', and 'Two Fires', all of which hit #1 on the chart and sold over 5 times platinum. Jimmy recorded 'Simply the Best' with Tina Turner for the NSW Rugby League ad campaign back in 1992; which was also released as a single. In the same year he won the ARIA Award for 'Best Male Artist' and 'Highest Selling Artist'.

Novella Previously playing around the state with various other bands, Novella came together when they decided it was time to get serious about music and do whatever it took to push things to the next level. Hooky “alternative rock pop” sounds textured on record and blistering onstage. The Band’s sound has been linked to the likes of Jimmy Eat World and Unwritten Law. Novella are one of the hardest working bands in Tasmania, writing and rehearsing most nights during the week and playing regular gigs on weekends. The guys are always trying to better themselves as musicians and make their live shows more exciting each time they take the stage. The band recently recorded a self funded demo which they give away at gigs; this is making the fan base grow with the help of My Space. They will be releasing an EP in the near future. Daniel Bicanski Daniel Bicanski is a 17 year old singer/songwriter and guitarist currently residing in North-West Tasmania, Australia. ” I write folk songs, ballads, and rhythm and blues songs”. “The prime influence on my music would have to be my personal heroes Don McLean, Elvis, and Robert Johnson. I owe a lot of my style to these guys, In my songs I try to express things which are most easily said in song, or attempt to rouse the more perceptive listener to ponder some issue I find myself pondering, most often the frailty of the delusions so often entertained by the romantics seemingly innate within most of us”. Daniel’s silky unique style has already been compared to some lofty predecessors. Roy Orbison, Robert Plant even Geoff Buckley can all be heard when listening to any one of his beautifully written pieces. |

Halfway to Forth Being brothers, Halfway to Forth spent a lot of time together as youngsters... Dan and Kyle's dad, Mike, gigged every weekend in a cover band and music was always here or there in the family home. Dan moved to Launceston in 2004 to study theatre at the University of Tasmania. Kyle stayed on in Devonport, finished school, harvested vegetables and became a quite a damn fine guitarist and singer. The boys finally got their act together and fumbled there way into pubs, restaurants and cafes armed with matching miniature guitars and a set-list full of rather obscure and diverse cover songs. Oh, and a couple of original tunes... Now they have a business card, a myspace and a few more originals |
